BlogEaster included a stop at the flatlanders to celebrate the anniversary of the spawn of Melanie and Jaird. I of course sent them
an e-card to congratulate them, and loaned out Lisa for some
last minute wrapping. Sunday breakfast yielded a
jellybean zygote Easter miracle, which Lisa was
very excited to witness.
My obsession with
Sonic dates back to when I helped Joseph move down to Florida in 2002. There, for the first time, I sampled the experience and was so excited I had to get a photo with
one of the waitresses, who tolerated me quite well. Unfortunately, the closest Sonic to Michigan is over 8 hours away in Indiana, which meant the constant commercials served only to taunt me the past 6 years. My Sonic visits were limited to vacations, that is until today when I learned that Sonic is
coming to southgate! I plan to find out the actual opening date in April and camp outside that morning in celebration of the fact that it will soon only be an hour away from me.
After dedicating 46 hours of my life to
Call of Duty 4, I finally joined the rest of my friends at the
maximum rank of commander. Not a very
exciting accomplishment, but at least I have something to show for it. After 250 hours of Battlefield 2142 I'm still
4 ranks away and Frontlines only teases me with
screenshots, so it was nice to finally get a warm feeling of accomplishment. With today reaching 60 degrees, I'll soon hopefully be free of my FPS prison.
Yesterday the Morlock came over for a redneck bumper repair. The technique involves placing a jack under a rear-ended truck bumper and jumping up and down in the cargo bed, forcing the bumper back into it's proper position. In addition to beating their chest and glaring with glowing eyes, jumping menacingly is a specialty of the Morlock, so the repair was expertly executed.
After almost 5 years since Myrone the Gnome
went missing, it looks like he may have
made his way down to South America to scare the local residents. I can't be certain it's my old gnome, but given that this is exactly what his namesake would do if he were a gnome, I have to believe it's a good possibility. If you look closely at the video, you can just barely make out what looks like a phone. If it turns out to be an iPhone, I'll be fully convinced.
Excited to see how my "standards compliant" website looked in
Internet Explorer 8, I promptly downloaded it only to discover the new "standards enlightened" browser rendered my navigation menu similar to how I render things into the toilet. Looks like I have to take some of the blame though, since it passed the
acid test with flying colors. Rendering aside, the new web slice feature looks promising, sort of like RSS feeds on steroids. Activities kind of freak me out, but I'm sure I'll come 'round to them as well in the end. Needless to say I'll be obsessing over both until I get at least one of each up and running.
Awhile back, the Detroit Free Press stopped by my work to interview Michigan companies. While they were here, the original Morlock decided to unload an entire round of nerf darts in my general direction. The photographer
caught him on camera and included it in the
article. A perfect avatar photo. Now that he's famous, I also plan to up his rent accordingly.
If the Civil Defense LAN is any indication of Michigans state of preparedness, we'll owe our lives to Canada and Ohio. Jaird and
Ron were the
only two brave enough show up and assist me in protecting our oil assets in
Frontlines: Fuel Of War. We spent the great majority of the LAN playing this new game, and even with only 3 people playing it was different enough from other FPS to keep us going well into the night. Once we discovered all the weapon load outs and specialties, we switched to Starcraft before enjoying our celebratory dinner at Rams Horn. Surprisingly, the least attended LAN ever wound up being sufficiently entertaining. Gnome Cam is

With my
desktop weather app showing its age, I decided to create a new
Vista weather gadget. It sits in your sidebar displaying current temp, wind, and 8 hour forecast. Click it and see max wind, high/low temp, and rain/humidity details. To make it stand out among the 20+ other weather gadgets, I used my
weather station feed to ensure it is the least useful to anyone outside the Detroit area. Now on to an equally useful GnomeCam gadget!
