BlogNow that I once again have
all achievements in BFBC2 (thanks to the piloting skills of
Stavos) I can safely try the PC version of the game. It's immediately clear that a new Xbox console is overdue, as the graphics cranked to full on a 1680x1050 monitor blew me away. At one point I just walked around a chopper looking at all the detail. After some fiddling with toggle vs hold on the zoom and crouch controls it wasn't that hard of a switch either, as is evidenced by my
complete domination of my first round. Everything did seem slower though, PC running feels like console walking but I'm not sure if that's real or imagined. Nevertheless, until another achievement-laden expansion arrives for the game I'm available on both platforms for war orgy.
Michigan finally got some of the famous 2011 snowstorm today, albeit only a fraction of what the east coast got. It was however; sufficient to
anger the morlock and every Facebook friend I know that works in Detroit. While they were stuck in traffic I was home happily snowblowing mine and my neighbors driveway to the tune of "
Downtown" by Petula Clark. While I'm sure I'd quickly go homicidal if I had a long commute, it's good to enjoy the simple things while you can.

Earlier this year, I discovered Canadians stocked caffeine free Mountain Dew thanks to some obscure law about not adding caffeine to beverages invented before the full moon of azeroth was in bloom. This titillated me greatly, and
Excelcier and I quickly setup a cross-border smuggling operation where I provided the caffeinated stuff in exchange for the decaf. Last week, he sent me
this photo taken from a local Meijer. It seemed too good to be true. Did my illegal smuggling operation make PepsiCo reconsider it's Canada-only policy? With great expectations I visited my local store and after some frantic searching, found
the holy grale. In the future, when everyone is getting brain replacements, I'll laugh and say "liver only thank you." I now fully expect no less than 25 comments referencing Canada in obscure ways.
While enjoying my morning evacuation, a
Morlock contacted me with news of his machinery not co-operating. I knew the Eloi race was in some serious trouble, an unhappy Morlock means double the normal Eloi consumption. Determined to keep Eloi loss at it's minimum, I agreed to assist with the repair, which involved a jump start. The
rescue was a success, although I theorize the underlying issue was old spark plugs. Happy again, the Morlock continued his trek to Morlock central: Detroit.

After a long evening of
BFBC2:V I commanded
Stavos create an homage to the Myrn love tunnel, a popular location to defend in our all-consuming FPS. The image turned out
better than I could have ever hoped, successfully capturing the intense feelings we all share for the virtual location. The photo reminds me why I fight the war, and what happens if we let the tunnel fall into the wrong hands.
After sleeping through New Years, I awoke to a 50 degree day. An excellent first impression for 2011. I took the opportunity to
release my Cougar from it’s tomb. Before storing it, a trip to Whineyhos house set the factory alarm to military mode and no amount of battery resets would cure it. I wound up pulling the fuse for the alarm horn just to get home without forming a parade. Today I was able to re-learn the
Excelcier Manuver and force a diagnostic reset to finally cure the virus which was most likely planted by Whineyho himself. Foiled again!

My recent acquisition of a
wireless-only WinPhone7 might end up on eBay sooner than I anticipated. A
"leaked" app on the marketplace hopefully means Verizon support is coming soon. I'll finally be able to
party with Bill Gates even without a wifi signal nearby.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2: Vietnam released today and the two colons in the title correctly foreshadowed the awesomeness of the game. While technically the same game, the add on gave new vehicles and maps that further titillated my loins beyond what I thought was possible with a single game. Maxing out at 8 simultaneous players in a party, a total of 12 people played at one time or another throughout my 6 hour odyssey of 60's era carnage.

Lots of activity at the ex-gay neighbor’s house
today, and this time it didn't involve underage boys or an
angry trailerpark mob. The ever inquisitive Robbie learned they were refurbishing the house for resale, and from the amount of soiled crap they were throwing in the trailer it would have been wise for them to have remembered hazmat suits.
EternalOne mentioned a 2 month cooldown period the banks must adhere to in case the original owners want to buy back the property, so I guess that has finally expired. This means the house may actually be rechristined at some point in the future, until then it remains the ex-gay neighbor’s house.

Tonight was the TRON Legacy movie premiere and also a celebration of aging for
Excelcier. Evidently his birthday has some pretty hefty celebrity pull as Nicholas Cage as well as the ever elusive TomTron were both seen partaking of the premiere. Being surrounded by such star power only served to amplify the experience, as the movie itself was great. A believable storyline continuation and awesome CGI job on young Jeff Bridges sold it as a sequel very well. The dialog was sufficient, but not excessive and thankfully the drama was kept to absolute minimum. I can easily see the setup for a 3rd movie, so here's to hoping they go through with it before another 28 years go by.
