Sonic Thanks to Sonic Michigan who took the latest photos of the construction site. He's also claiming May 14th as the opening date, so I'm definately getting pumped. With the cement poured and sign up, I'm inclined to believe him!

That place is going to be packed on Cruisin' Downriver.

Will Sonic Michigan ever reveal themselves after Sonic is opened since we won’t care after anyways.
Stavos
I think he is one of the owners. Look at the myspace page. Top right tells you how to apply for a job there.
Tim
Just to let everybody know I am not a owner of Sonic (wish I was) just a huge fan of them.
Sonic Michigan
On Monday the 28th I sent a e-mail to the Sonic Drive in Public Relations department asking about Sonic apparel and if they knew a opening date. Today I received there reply and I thought I would share it with you. Dear Alan, Thank you for your interest in Sonic and for taking the time to devote a MySpace page to us! At this time we do not offer Sonic Apparel to consumers due to safety reasons. However, you will be excited to learn that the Sonic in Southgate is nearing the completion of its construction. It should be open by late May! Get ready to order a delicious Sonic meal in the near future! Have a great day, Sarah Smith Coordinator, Franchise Development

Lisas planned trip to her grandparents was extended another 340 miles so we could take in all that is New York city. In the two days we had available we managed to hit alot of attractions, including liberty island, ground zero, late show taping, central park, shea stadium, and times square, with my favorite attraction being the subway. My primary motivation for visiting was to see what was left of the 1964/5 Worlds Fair, and sadly there wasn't much left. Of all the huge and optimistic pavilions that were constructed for the fair, only the Unisphere survived in tact. The New York Pavilion was the only other structure, which was left to rot, so I took it as my duty to collect a few souvenirs after breaking into the Circarama. Here's what it used to look like before it was left to die.
User Comments for 04-19-2008:
Welcome back, I love how Lisa is in the bottom left hand corner of every photo.
Stavos
I visited New York city back in 1994. I saw a lot of those same attractions as you guys saw. I remember going to visit the World Trade Center.

Never been there yet.. want to some day

A stop in Southgate on our way to New York yielded an updated photo of the Sonic construction. Lisa was ecstatic about finally seeing the site of the new Sonic. The only apparent progress is columns for the front roof and the curb around the building. Still no parking lot or order stations, probably early to mid May before they're done at this rate.
User Comments for 04-12-2008:
That look is priceless. Update overload!
Stavos
Yup, Brad must be on vacation cuz he went over a week w/o an update and then WHAM, update overload... Now go register on our forums, bitch.
E1
It's Southgate not Southfield.
Silvercup
Haha we already have 4.

Yeah but Ohio sucks, so it doesn't matter. Cops are worse, Roads are worse, football team is worse, can't smoke in bars... Commie state, I tell ya...
E1
May 14th people!

I drive by a Sonic on the way to work every day. To think it's just sitting there, waiting for me to dine on it's excellence. Perhaps I will write about it like the In-N-Out Burger http://chrisrisner.com/blog/archive/2008/04/19/In-N-Out-Burger.aspx. Perhaps I'll just eat it and take pictures and mail it to Lloyd daily.

Farewell Morlock After Lisa completed the required Gnome Cam dance for Phantom of the Opera tickets, it was off to bid farewell to the Morlock down the street. His emancipation from the cursed state of Michigan is a triumph, one that I'm extremely jealous of. His celebration was filled with gay jokes, liquor, and awkward man hugs, all appropriate for the Morlock. I also made it a point to introduce him to my new neighbors, since it was the first and last time they would ever see him, and therefore hilarious. Good luck in AZ Morlock, I hope to one day join you in the land of eternal sunshine and anti-snow. Enjoy the recycled anti-morlock symbol which now represents goodbye morlock.
User Comments for 04-11-2008:
Ahh the Lloyd. Thanks for coming down. It was a blast and nice to meet th new ex-neighbors. I hope all the best for you when it snows in june.

Goodluck Prime fancy seeing you at Bar Louie's. So welcome to my ever growing eFriends list and my decreasing real friend list which pretty much is just Brad left.

Wanting to see my now famous and admired chromed Xbox 360 with their own eyes, Stavos and Tammy came over to witness the Gizmodo mandated purchase, along with a similarly senseless purchase of the racing wheel. As usual, shenanigans ensued with many flattering photos of Stavos and Tammy. As you can see we learned mounting the wheel to a table was much more effective than the lap/beanbag combo. Now to program a bus driving simulator with XNA and make millions!
User Comments for 04-10-2008:
Tammy is just like Candy and Lisa full over organ problems. They just don't build chicks like they use too. I'm in the process of breaking into your house to use the 360 wheel again and Tammy to play the simulated American Idol. Sam is now a hostage!

Captain Georges Ice Cream & Middle Eastern Food A few months ago "Captain Georges Ice Cream" shop opened up just north of my house. I was fascinated by it's creepy sign that screamed "I'm a pedophile, send me your children!" To make it even more creepy, a month ago they appended the sign to also include middle eastern food. So now there's a child molester serving ice cream and middle eastern food to kids. I'm not sure how the middle eastern food fits into the equation, but ice cream and kids are a natural match. I'm counting the days till little Jimmy tells his parents about the "bad touch" and it shuts down for good. Until then, I'll claim my theory is fact without even entering the store to further investigate.
User Comments for 04-08-2008:
Totally freaks me out but this has to be documented from the inside. Nice outside coverage how lets do it!

My 15 year old octagon picnic table that rotted apart last year was sacrificed to the bonfire gods for the first fire of the season. Keith and Lindsay both wept as our shared memories of it rotting in back of his Redford house went up in flames along with the table. The new neighbors also attended, witnessing Lisas seizure laugh for the first time, possibly scaring them away for good. I also completed Ron's long anticipated folding chair swap for Keiths coveted Cougar chairs.

In case you missed the latest South Park episode, Major Boobage, it's a tribute to the 80's cartoon Heavy Metal, which has the same animation style as Aeon Flux. Kenny trips out on cat spray (best to just watch it than have me try to explain it) and enters the Heavy Metal world with Don Felders "Takin a Ride" playing in the background. The sequences are awesome, but more importantly the song gets stuck in your head. So much so that I'm now looping it at work continuously. I'm hoping to burn out on it by the end of the week, but until then welcome to my madness.

Sonic Southgate My quest to camp out at Sonic Southgate for opening day continues, and today I decided to check up on the building progress. After driving to what I pinpointed as the exact location of the future Sonic, I took various photos of the lot including a building closeup and wide shot. I'm guessing late April at this point, since the parking lot hasn't been poured and it looks like utilities aren't even hooked up yet. Couldn't find anything to help find a contact for the company building it, but seeing the sign and actual building definitely got me all hot and bothered.
User Comments for 03-26-2008:
ZOMG! I am so excited about this. After being taunted for years regional commercials we will finally know the goodness of Sonic. I'm in for the first road trip. Gina, of course, believes me to be retarded.
Duane
We all must show up opening day and blog the hell out of this!
Stavos
Duane, if Gina knew how wonderful Sonic was she would not think you are retarded.
Tim
I posted a Sonic grand opening thread on the forums under the special events section. Go discuss.
Tim
OK, why is Sonic so exiting???
Excelcier
Sonic is perty good food, I wish they would open a white hastle here. It has been a long time since ive been hastled, and have had a proper bowel movement.
enorym
Why hasn't there been another update? I'm dying for more news regarding the Sonic that I won't be here for! Also, do you know where they do have Sonic? Phoenix, AZ.
MorlockPrime
Too bad it will be too hot to roll down your window when its 110 plus outside.
r1OT
I guess I'll have to experience it for myself when it opens.
Excelcier
Canadians are not allowed at Sonic. Did you read the sign? "America's Drive-in". However there's a Tim Hortons next door.
Stavos
Ahhh Tim Horton's...15 million retards and growing (15 million and 1 when Excelcier shows up).
MorlockPrime
Since I'm an American... I hate Tim Horton's... since I am indeed an american who will in fact be moving to AMERICA!
Excelcier
Really? Where and when?
Stavos
Probably on the day they disband the INS. Like we'd let canadian trash move into our country.
MorlockPrime
...Actually we do have Canadian trash transported to Michigan and we get money for storing it, guess that's what you get for having a Canadian Governor.
Stavos
Someone's going to have to pay an awful lot for us to store Excelcier in our great land. Perhaps we can deal with him like we should the rest of the trash, send it to the sun....or feed it to hungry immigrants.
MorlockPrime
I was hoping you'd say "hungry Morlocks" but that's not any better then Tim Hortons so I guess Immigrants will do.
Stavos
Morlock's eat (and rape) eloi, they don't have anything to do with Canadians (though some scientists keep trying to prove that Canadians are the retarded step children of the noble Morlocks).
MorlockPrime
They say smart genes skip a generation so Ron's kids should be as sharp as tacks...
Stavos
Too bad they'll still be Canadian. Perhaps they'll be smart enough to finally solve the age old problem of how to get Americans to not think of all Canadians as retards.
MorlockPrime

Easter included a stop at the flatlanders to celebrate the anniversary of the spawn of Melanie and Jaird. I of course sent them an e-card to congratulate them, and loaned out Lisa for some last minute wrapping. Sunday breakfast yielded a jellybean zygote Easter miracle, which Lisa was very excited to witness.
User Comments for 03-23-2008:
I can't believe stavos hasn't commented on this yet. He must be feeling sick. Or he's depressed I'm moving to phoenix. Where its warm and we don't get any of this snow shit.
MorlockPrime
There's just no point anymore since the Morlock is moving. I'm jumping off the building without my glasses so you know i'm serious.
Stavos
Are you going to ebay the Jellybean zygote?
Stavos
I think i know a british guy that might buy it.
