Despite dedicating the better part of
5 years to my Xbox 360 obsession, it's not long enough to warrant one of the
giveaways going to 10+ year veterans. I did, however, receive a code for a fancy XBL10 helmet as a consolation prize, which should keep me going for another 5 years.
In honor of veterans day, Michigan decided to gift us with a sunny 70° day. I took full advantage of what could possibly be the
last warm and sunny day of the year and got my suntan on. I can think of nothing more patriotic than laying shirtless in the sun
enjoying a beer, free from the forced labor camps of North Korea.
As you can see from
this video, my car is totally awesome. That's right, I hang with Porsches and Ferraris. Don't believe me? Watch the video, I'll wait. Now that I know what my car is truly capable of I'll be driving to work in the same manner since the cops clearly can't catch me. I just have to make sure the road is wet and filp the bird at the right time and I'm invincible!
Having been instructed to read the book by various friends, I finally finished World War Z a month ago. With the zombie fad winding down, I wasn't expecting to be that excited about it, but when they threw in the space station and a Chinese nuclear sub I was hooked. Now it looks like a
movie is releasing but sadly, according to
IMDB, will be related to the book in title only. Instead of a post-war documentary, it will be during the actual outbreak. I'm sure the old cliché of "book was better" will hold true, but I'm still excited to see it which says a lot given how overdone the zombie genre is.
After casting my vote for Gary Johnson, it was time to sit back and watch the results roll in with
intense Lila. While it's commonly considered a wasted vote when you choose a non-primary candidate, it's also a fact that if any of those candidates get 5% of the popular vote their party gets media coverage next election. While Obama won (to my delight, as Fox News quickly went into funeral mode) Johnson got 1% of the popular vote, meaning I am now the 1%.

Almost 5 years after that fateful day I decided to purchase an Xbox 360, I've hit the 100,000 gamerscore milestone. I still curse the person who
invented achievements, and the various copycat systems it spawned. I know now it is my weakness, and can only hope that by hitting this number
I will be at peace with myself.
With a sudden rush of subscriptions to my
pointless Youtube channel, I decided to investigate what the big attraction was.
Turns out,
this video managed to get listed high up in related videos of a few popular
RC car clips. Now an
internet millionaire, I'm on track to retire in the year 3752 if views remain constant and inflation stays flat.
I can only assume people watch beyond the first 5 minutes because it stars two women, which is likely a rare combination with RC cars.

With my new car
delivered and
broken in,
I managed to convince Lisa we should take it on our family trip through the eastern United States.
It was her first time driving a 6-speed manual, so the first few hours were entertaining before she got the pattern straight. Luckily I have a reverse lockout
so the transmission remained inside the vehicle at all times. Our first stop was
Illinois to
visit grandparents, then
Florida to visit the beach and Joseph. I'm fairly certain Lila did not
particularly enjoy the beach, but endured it well after seeing how ecstatic her dad was about it. Lisa also made sure we had time to bring
Lila to her first visit to Kennedy Space Center on the way home, which she seemed to enjoy much more than the beach. Our final stop was in South Carolina
for Lisas' cousins baby shower. I managed to sneak off and get some serious beach time at
Folly beach
which was similar to a small scale Key West due to the high number of beach bars. 1800 miles and a week and a half later we arrived home, more exhausted than when we started.
Despite recommendations to the contrary, I took the plunge and pre-ordered the
Microsoft Surface. My
last tablet experience ended with a realization I don't need a tablet, so it's only natural I forget all about that and try again. My only real reason for getting one is "shiney" and "not android or ios" so this one is squarely in the Microsoft fanboy corner. I'll of course keep everything eBay ready for when I realize I still don't need a tablet, but now it's time to get excited for all the things I do on my phone to be done on a slightly larger screen.

With three friends having babies relatively close in age,
Happy Baby Fun Time was destined to happen.
While my planned baby race and baby fight never managed to take off, due in part to 2/3 of the attendees unable to walk, we did manage a scoot race and
there was some inappropriate positioning that could almost count for both. While the babies had plenty of energy, the 6 exhausted adults eventually
called it quits and concluded the first Happy Baby Fun Time event. Here's to hoping for more.
