Not satisfied with my previous 4 hour RockBand binge, Lisa and I were joined by the Kelleys for another 4 hour session. This time we had all 4 instruments going and confusion was at maximum. Enjoyment was also at maximum despite our inability to play anything harder than "easy." We recorded Orange Crush, Gonna Be My Girl, Black Hole Sun, and Blitzkrieg Bop for record label consideration.

I love posting in real time! So ya band practice went well we did several gigs and won a POS bus for getting a four star average rating. Also despite my lack of rhythm I was able to play the base in the mid 90% range on easy of course, I'm not a machine!
Stavos
I'm sure by the time I make it up there Brad will have moved on to another entertaining waste of time. Watch out for the Flatlander Tour '08 comming to a town near you.

After Lisa's mother told us we had to go outside on such a beautiful day, I decided it was time for our annual visit to Kensington metro park. Since Duane lives less than 5 minutes from the park, we decided to invite him to join us. He told us in no uncertain terms that he finds us distasteful and that we bear an unpleasant odor that he preferred not to endure. Undaunted, we continued to the park alone to enjoy a rowing adventure with Lisa along with some shots of me stuffing food in my face and some random photos from the future when we go to visit the Kelleys (who find our odor tolerable). An enjoyable day with some spacetime distortion to keep things interesting.

I love time travel blog's, they're almost as good as a good old Star Trek The Next Generation time travel episode. They also give equal equivalent headaches.

Rock Band After learning the Guitar Hero guitars I already have work with Rock Band, and finding a used drum set for $37, I was able to obtain the full Rock Band experience for under $60. With my neighbor on guitar, Lisa on vocals, and myself on drums we formed We're Not Good which was our second choice after the first one was blocked for not enough o's. Our virtual band virtually rocked until we tried "Medium" difficulty which quickly put us back in our place. Our lead singer was picky about our songs, and the guitarist was overly excited about everything. It was just like a real band except it was in my basement and I have no musical skill other than hitting the right pad at the right time. The 3 hours of entertainment was more than worth the $60, and I've marked off yet another 6-month old fad on my list of things to catch up with.
User Comments for 08-02-2008:
And the neighbors didn't form a lynch mob or try to burn your house down? I'm shocked!
MorlockPrime
Thats why the play in your former dweling. If it can muffle the morlock grunts and howls i'm sure it is more then sufficent for them.
R1OT
Just came back from a 4 hour RockBandFest at the Lloyds house. Despite my horrible ability to not detect rhythm I was in the mid 90% range on base, as well as candy on guitar. I really want to get it now for wii
Stavos
90% on easy or medium? If its anything like Guitar Hero, once yhou make that step to medium it really puts you in your place.

Brigadier General After sacrificing as much time as 12 full days of my life to the game, I finally got the top rank in Battlefield 2142 today, as thousands have before me. Much longer than the measly 46 hours required for Call of Duty 4. I'm now free of computer games until Starcraft 2 comes out sometime in the next year.
User Comments for 08-01-2008:
Gee and I thought you didn't play video games in the summer!
Excelcier
Did your wife give you permission to play video games that much?
MorlockPrime
Congratulations General. I can't believe you still play that game I dropped it a long time ago. Yes SC2 will be amazing and I foresee a lot of waisted hours playing it.

Intel Switch After passing on one too many motherboard deals, this one finally got me to cave. Duane and Stavos had me converted to Intel architecture awhile back, but the quad cores are still too expensive, so I settled on a more affordable Core 2 E7200 for now. The beauty of this motherboard is that it accepts both DDR2 and DDR3 memory, so I was able to recycle the memory and every other component from my old system to create the new one for less than $200. The upgrade finally put me in the 10,000 3DMark club, and the onboard ICH9R RAID controller boosted my I/O by at least 10MB/s across the board. Surprisingly my Vista rating remained the same, suggesting all the gains were due entirely to the faster front side bus. The upgrade also introduced me to the new LGA 775 CPU interface which initially blew my mind. Instead of pins on the processor, there is a "Land Grid Array" of pins on the motherboard that match contacts on the CPU. Initially fearing homeland security would arrest me for using such fascist technology, I quickly remembered I had blown $200 on an unnecessary upgrade putting me back into the more accepted blind consumer category.

WNR3500 Light Show My new WNR3500 router arrived today, and as predicted it made me forget all about the recent outage from the previous one. After a quick configuration, I was up and running with a sleek new black case and blinky lights at 60% blink capacity. The raw power of the router managed to completely disable the network card in my media center pc, which remains a mystery and seriously cut into Lisas TV time for the evening. Fortunately the machine has dual-nics and a quick swap solved the problem. Once Lisa stopped watching TV on the wireless Xbox I was treated to 100% blink capacity. Apparently it goes into "antenna dance" when there is no wireless traffic, probably designed to hypnotize you into buying more Netgear equipment. Rest assured all traffic from this server is now fully blinkified before reaching your computer.
User Comments for 07-23-2008:
Man can Netgear make up their mind? Black - White - back to black again. Do they change colors depending on the most popular Game console at the time? Xbox (black) wii (white) PS3, Xbox 360 Elite (black). BTW nice animated gif.

Die WNR834B Todays 13 hour outage enjoyed by all websites on this server turned out to be the fault of my $50 WNR834B router, and not the l33t h@xzor skillz of Stavos as was previously thought. After careful review of the router logs, it became apparent the reason for failure was megabit limited LAN traffic speeds and a lack of flashing blue network activity lights. Fortunately both problems are solved with the WNR3500 gigabit router presently on order. If you're thinking the Netgear marketing machine has blinded me into sinking even more money into faulty equipment you'd be right, and while I may never know why the router decided to ignore all WAN traffic at 4:30am, I do know in less than 3 days I'll have a shiny new one to help me forget why I ever cared.
User Comments for 07-22-2008:
Contrary to popular believe I did hold Brads website ransom with undisclosed demands I finally did release his site this morning and made him think the router failed. I even turned off the blinking blue lights on the router to fool him I'm just that good.

I prefer the ease of cutting lloyd's outside cable line.

After constant badgering by Keith to get a twitter account resulted in my rejection of it (similar to my rejection of the Ikea cult), I received an email from my non-blogging and non-commenting wife suggesting I create a twitter account. Taking it like a slap in the face, I immediately started making fun of her to which she simply twittered a response. The irony immediately shut me up, and I accepted the fact that soon I will be the only person on Earth who hasn't been to Ikea and does not have a twitter account.
User Comments for 07-21-2008:
I'm with you man, Never will have a twitter account or been to Ikea although I pass by that huge blue and yellow building at least once a week to see family. And well Twitter is just stupid.
Stavos
Twitted is like micro blogging. I use it to tell friends when I'm gaming and what I'm playing.
Duane
But technically you should always tell them that your twittering at that very moment that's what your doing. Also Xfire pretty much does that automatically for you. Just saying.
Stavos
Surrender to the dark side Stavos and Lloyd. Then we can know what you're doing all the time.....without having to look through your windows with binoculars.

MorlockPrime Stavos Thanks to the shenanigans of MorlockPrime and Stavos, there are now over 2,500 comments I can print out and roll around in during my feel good time. Not surprisingly, over half of these comments are completely unrelated to the post they are tied to, but quantity always counts for more than quality. 2,500 comments on your blog translates to roughly $250 internet dollars that I plan to divide equally between them, so enjoy MorlockPrime and Stavos! You're each $125 internet dollars richer!
User Comments for 07-17-2008:
So with the current exchange rate of Internet Dollars to USD thats $1.25 I accept paypal or cash. thanks!

Well at least it's better than the exchange rate of Internet Dollars to Canadian Dollars. With that exhange ratio we'd both end up owing about 2 grand Stavos!

EcoBoosted With the recent news of EcoBoost being chosen as the primary short term fuel savings technology for Ford, I'm primed for excitement about potentially owning all-boosted vehicles. The Ranger is already slated for a 4 cylinder, and now the Mustang SVO may make a comeback. With my choices made years before their available, it was only natural to snag EcoBoosted.org and whomp up a forum where I can spew my obsession to an interactive audience. By the time the technology is mainstream, I'll have spewed out enough rants to scare off anyone but the most hardcore, which means it will be Stavos and I as exclusive members. Engage jealousy now!
User Comments for 07-15-2008:
You mean Stavos will jump to the Blue Oval Side?!?
R1OT
This really has nothing to do with the post, but your UPS has a COMM ERROR... and per the log, the amount of times you lose power it shall be deemed a class-3 emergency alert.
Brian
I hold in my hand the red pill and the blue pill, your choice will ultimately change your life. I of course took the red pill back in 2002 by purchasing the opposite of a eco car with a smog creating V8 engine and removed my cats. So ya it's very ironic I'm the first member of a Eco forum. I have high hopes for this site already!
Stavos
Would owning a cougar be like taking the pink pill?
MorlockPrime
The Communication Panel is now a GIANT RED X which has been bumped up to level 5 emergency alert. It's been nice knowing all of you.
Stavos
Abandon ship! These coments are now the only way we can communciate. I hope to god Brad's access server doesn't die!
MorlockPrime
Brads Access database isn't Eco friendly therefore i'm reporting this to the fat ass Al Gore, he will prompty tax the hell out of Brad for no reason and blame global warming. Save the polarbears Brads killing them with his access database!
Stavos
Running an Access Database is like pouring motor oil out on your grass. Hey, doesn't brad do that to? Get the EPA on his ass!
MorlockPrime
Yeah but that was my idea, it fuels bonfires very efficiently saving tree's, paper, and lighter fluid therefore it saves the environment. So I'll just shove my carbon footprint up Al Gores hefty ass in a green sort of way of course!
Stavos
Considering how much green Al Gore probably eats, something tells me you're foot's going to be all kinds of green after you shove it up his ass.
MorlockPrime
It comes off better then bacon goop.
Stavos
Yeah, but can you use it to run your bacon grease cougar?
