Sno*Drift Rally is an SCCA Pro and Club-Rally event centered around Atlanta, MI.
Last year was the first time I had ever seen an actual rally in person.
This year I went with a few more friends and the weather was alot colder. Average temperature was 10°F. Friday we saw stages 2 and 4, the last of which was pitch black (very cool). Saturday was 8, 12, and 16 (missed 14 to eat). Even though we came close to losing major extremities in the cold it was still very cool.
Most likely it's the associated attitudes of the tuner crowd, or possibly the fact that they are so bland in design, but either way I hate Hondas. Today I got a mailer for a Civic Si and I was so upset they mailed me it I wrote a nasty letter back telling them to take me off their list. Is it an unhealthy hatred? Probably. One that will most likely land me in trouble when I run one off the road. However it's a hatred I can't get over. Everytime I see one, or a commercial for one it resurfaces. The one exception to my hatred is the Civic Hybrid, which gets points for the 50+ MPG it attains, but even that one I refuse to consider as an actual vehicle. With that, my rant is done for the day.
Getting ready to watch a movie lastnight, a few friends and I decided to order Pizza Hut. The first one we called said to call another one since we weren't in their delivery zone. The second one says they don't deliver so we opt for a pickup. We go to pickup the pizza only to find the Pizza Hut we went to wasn't the one we ordered from. The manager says "There's another one down the street" which sounded helpful, but wound up being a Pizza Hut Express in Detroit. The employees were encased in a glass (bulletproof) dome with a turntable that couldn't hold more than a personal pizza. Deciding it probably wasn't the one we ordered from, we called the original pizza hut and ordered again. An hour and a half after visiting 3 pizza huts we finally had our pizza. A successful adventure.
Today I went to pickup a part for my Cougar in Michigan City, IN. Naturally I took the Cougar to pick it up, not realizing there was a snowstorm between my house and the pickup location. Needless to say I wound up with a pretty
snowy Cougar. I was also fortunate enough to recieve a ticket for 10 over on the way back courtesy the Michigan State Police. So far everytime I take out my Cougar I get a ticket. Hopefully it isn't a trend or I'll have to start riding my pedal bike to work.
The weekends at the NAIAS usually consist of fighting through teenie boppers and screaming kids, so I decided to take a day off work and go this year. It was still pretty busy, but not insane.
Stavos works at the RenCen so we got free parking and free shuttle to Cobo. My dad got me two free tickets so we split the third (
Enoryms) for a total cost of $4 for each of us. Got some great
photos of the event, but didn't see anything that grabbed my attention. A few fuel cell cars, no new hybrids, and no really cool production cars. Lots of neat prototypes though, more than I expected with the current economic drought. A good way to spend 4 hours and $4, but I would definately recommend going on a weekday to avoid being trampled.
Tonight Enorym, Stavos and I went to Best Buy to look at electronics and wound up harassing a cashier about my open-item purchase. After that we went to Dunhams sports and I found a Turbo Sled! Of course this required an immediate trial, so at 8:30pm in a pitch black park we made several trips down a sledding hill. It truely was a turbo sled. After 4 close calls with a tree, and almost breaking my tailbone we called it a night.

Lastnight, around 2:00am, I suddenly heard a loud voice say "near the phone jack, where the computer is sitting." It came from my computer speakers which I had left powered on after I turned the computer off. I've heard it before, but usually between 9:00pm and 10:00pm. This was the first time I heard it so late (early). The first few times I thought it was just CB traffic from the main road somehow interfering with my speakers. Lastnight and the time before I clearly heard the exact same phrase. This ruled out the random CB interference. I still have no idea what's causing it, but I'm assuming some radio frequency somewhere is creating it. If not I'm either under surveillance, or going insane. I decided to build a snowman and light up some torches to drive out the demons in my speakers.
Bored at work,
Myrone and I began IM'ing each other back and forth about my Interweb. Our
conversation became fairly detailed, and eventually also involved
Stavos. He was a perpetrator of false information on my Interweb, so I had to send the spear of angryness to his processor. If that doesn't make sense I wouldn't recommend reading the conversation.
