Jaird sent me the following video and I immediately began playing it on loop for several days. The music and randomness alone had me hooked. Later, I found this article which explained the background and the South Korean excess contrasted with my North Korea obsession re-ignited my obsession.
After discovering the ST3 package for my Focus ST initial order was delayed due to the HID headlights not being available,
I quickly put in a second ST2 order that is scheduled to be built in early September. Once this forum started
reporting vehicles off the line, I decided it was time to pay Michigan Assembly (where the Focus is built) a visit. I quickly discovered that as long as you are outside the security fence,
plant security doesn't really give much of a damn what you do. I spent a good 20 minutes searching for a car similar to mine and finally found it staring
hopefully back at me. Despite quite a few photos, I left with the same sense of emptiness and
unfulfilled dreams as I had before stalking the place. My car just can't get here soon enough!
The anticipation for my Focus ST is nearing a feverish pitch, so of course Myrn has to attend the San Francisco
"Focus ST Driving Academy" which has no events even remotely close to me.
Naturally a taunt video was made and there was much bragging involved.
He did send me the lanyard and badge he received as a followup however, so I can't be mad at him.
While helping the Morlock retrieve his boat and prepare it for shipping to Washington, I managed to drop my phone squarely on it's face.
I knew even before I picked it up it would be cracked since the gravel was uneven and perfect for piercing glass.
I also took a moment to enjoy the fact that I had just finished replacing the case as the previous one had a lot of scuffs from being dropped.
The Morlock treated me to dinner for my assistance and troubles.
My repair attempt failed utterly after I realized I'm not skilled enough to seperate the digitizer from the LCD screen. The $90 insurance replacement
was my only option as the crappy HTC Trophy still sells for $400 new and $150 on eBay 3 years after it's release, which boggles my mind.
Today was Lilas second beach visit ever and despite being cranky, she still managed to smile a few times. Once she saw the other kids splashing around it was immediately priority to do the same, until her baby fat insulation finally succumbed to the 70 degree water. Another hour of sand castle creation (mostly destruction) warmed her back up to full power for another 15 minutes of high speed hydrofoiling before concluding the visit. I promised her next beach visit will be at the ocean instead of the fresh water puddle.
After 13 years of absorbing my nastiness, I decided yesterday was the day I'd clean my Cougar seats. This involved removing both seats, soaking them in upholstery cleaner, then spraying them off with a hose and letting them dry in the sun. Lila was fascinated with the whole event and decided to help me bolt them back in. You can watch the whole thing unfold on the Gnome Cam. Now I have the new car smell back in full effect, and no more mystery stains.
Today was Lilas first time at the zoo, and as you can tell she was pretty excited. While we didn't get to witness any monkeys throwing poop, it was probably for the best as I'm sure she would eventually mimick it. She did get to chase down the peacock, see most of the animals, and get first hand experience of how rude other kids are. That's right, I went there. I'm already the judgemental dad who thinks all other kids are jerks. But seriuosly they were all rude to her, what kind of parents let their kid get that way! A return trip is required as we missed the butterfly house, reptile house, and the meercat interactive bubble of joy.

Next time try the Toledo zoo, more animals than non-disciplined kids. The Senator
Today was a rare day of rain in this 90+ degree summer, and it was making up for lost time. Heavy downpouring made for some intense puddles along I-96 and after a few minor ones I finally hit a major one that stalled out my car. I immediately regretted my cold air intake, and realized should the zombie apocolypse have happened this would have been my death. As I pulled over and cranked my engine a few times I determined tonight is the night I eliminate this weak point. As I struggled to get the engine running again, a cop pulled up behind another stallout but the rain was so intense I don't think he was planning on getting out. I also assumed he read "supercharged" on my car and knew I was invincible, which would be a correct conclusion as after several revs to 6,000 I finally flushed the water out of my engine. Now steamcleaned and fancy free, I finished my drive to work and bragged about how totally awesome I am for getting my waterlogged car up and running again.
I was greeted with the Brad Lloyd Space Station at work when I returned from Cougarfest. There was an A in the acronym as well but I forgot what it stood for. I'm told I'm in direct competition with NASA and they had the forsight to equip it with dual satellite receivers in the event of an outage.
The cancellation of the dyno at Cougarfest meant I had enough participants for the Enorym suggested trip to Centralia, PA. I had never heard of the place until Myrn mentioned it on our conference call on my way to Cougarfest. Intrigued, and motivated by the cancellation, I got overly excited and infected 4 other people to brave the trip. The city has an interesting history that lead it to the abandoned sinkhole it has become, but over time the exciting ruins have been overgrown so that now the only really exciting thing left is the abandoned stretch of highway covered in penis graphics by the local kids. I took two Photosynth murals and explored a bit, but nothing extraordinary stood out. The road alone was worth the trip. Photosynth 1 | Photosynth 2
