replaced the bumper on my Cougar which was
torn off at Cougarfest.
EternalOne was kind enough to donate an old one so the part cost was free, but it has the drawback of holes from the front licence plate bracket. I decided to mount the bracket rather than leave two holes exposed, which meant I needed a front plate. Since I had a Ford car show today I went with
this one which is admitedly cheesy. I'll probably put an expired Florida plate on sometime in the hopes I'll get pulled over by a cop. The Ford plate apparently did some good as I won first in my class (1985-Present) at the
show. I also met a fellow Ranger owner who supercharged his truck including a water injection system.
Recently, Keith
moved in for a temporary stay before his relocation to Missitucky. He setup his belongings, focusing first on his computer as any normal geek does, and settled into the mother-in-law suite of my house. Shortly afterwards, however, strange things started happening. Lights mysteriously turn themselves on, a 3-mile lead on a biking trail suddenly winds up with him in front, Gatorade is sold for 1¢ with purchase of another, and finally yesterday solid proof of his shenanigans turned up on the
gnome cam. The only explanation for the image sequence below is that Keith is of extra-terrestrial origin, and not just another typical southerner.
While in BizTalk training, we came across this slide. I labelled it "Urinating on Surveys causes Global Warming." Any better ones?
Yep, I found one. It's disguised as the police department. Just
search google local and you'll get directions. If you really want crack though, you'll have to enter the building and say the codeword "pigs all suck" before they'll direct you to the warehouse. Once there you can enjoy more crack than you thought would ever exist in one place. Mmmmm, crack house!
The long abandoned
Blacknova Traders game on this server has been reset. I randomly happened upon the latest
patch for the game fixing the DB and universe issues for PHP 4.3+ and MySQL 4.1+ (or so they say). If you're into this sort of thing, it's a clean slate for everyone. Think tradewars from the old BBS days. Additionally,
Steve has reset the
AtomicDetroit forums in the third attempt at spiritual revival.
Today in
BizTalk training, I could not get the song
You're the Best from the Karate Kid soundtrack out of my head. I proceeded to repeat the only memorable lyrics over and over prompting
this obnoxious .net program. It inspired
Brian to write his first equally useful .net program that he promised to post in the near future. When I got home, the
Jona radiator re-install was started in my garage by
Duane with
Jona assisting as best he could. InstaPool status: still stable.
With almost two months of 90+ degree weather I decided it was time to do something to cool down the summer before it was over. The best way to get cooler weather is to setup a pool that requires warm weather for heat, so that's exactly what I did. My infamous
InstaPool which was previously tied up in a sale that fell through was hauled out of my garage. After an initial structural failure requiring the use of
cinder blocks I managed to get it to cooperate and
retain water. Yes, it's a
documented fact that I'm a sexy shirtless man. Assuming it doesn't collapse, we should start seeing 60 degree weather shortly.
Lomar came over today for assistance with a
brake job on his wifes Saturn and introduced me to his latest music CD targeting a 41 year old employee at the Speedway he works at. The CD definately had artistic and comedic (mostly comedic) value to it. The music inspired what was by far the best part of the day, his stop-motion beer retreival documented to the right. I can't explain why but I laugh everytime it loops. Seriously. I have to turn off the screen just to catch my breath.
After creating the new
Cougarfest Archive, which generates photo thumbnails on the fly, I've noticed the CPU on this server spiking to 100% quite often. The 933Mhz machine has been just dandy up until now, but the .NET imaging library has a hunger for power that cannot be satisfied by a 4 year old machine. My options are to switch back to Linux, or buy new hardware. Since I'm all about the work/earn/buy programming of society, the choice is obvious for me. I'm currently on the lookout for cheap 64-bit barebone systems under $500. I plan to finally make the move to 64-bit on my desktop, and transplant my current motherboard/CPU to the server. The whole operation is complicated, time consuming, and expensive which is exactly the way I like it. All implied references are correct. Oh and Missy's first Cougarfest was last week and she had a blast, and I'm happy she came, and I'm happy she came (not a typo).
I again have monitors for sale, but this time I also snagged some laptop cases and docking stations. The laptop cases fit most any laptop, and the docking stations are for Dell Latitude laptops. Shoot me an email if interested in any of the above.
