Friday night began with an
early birthday party for
Stavos at Benihana where chopsticks and napkins transformed into comedy routines. After dinner, a game of Apples to Apples at the Morlocks completed the night while the Morlock dog slobbered all over my crotch, proving what good taste he has in crotches. Not satisfied with one night of the Senator, the Kelleys returned Sunday for some Asian sweatshop nail work and Sweet Baby Rays BBQ. We also spent some time at the Morlocks wiring up his next generation CAT6 network while his dog re-moistened my crotch.

It's come to my attention that my
achievements are not detailed enough to convey the awesomeness that I regularly bring to
Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Fortunately
detailed stats are now available to break down just how awesome I really am. Now there's no question you should pick me first when forming a squad. Also get
Tigerbomb so he can revive me.
My trip to
SXSW with Schwartz and Whineyho concluded today. Our adventures included
in-flight arcade games,
Chevy Volt,
solar recharge stations and
this. The best talk was "
Gmail: Behind the Scenes" with "
AI: 2010" a close second. The best party by far was the Xbox 360 meet up which included free Salt Lick BBQ, but more importantly I touched
MajorNelson (inappropriately). Two other parties had open bars (free beer) with the last one providing a night of drunken hilarity including public urination. Aside from the lack of sleep and 9:30am sessions a fun time was had by all.

A cross promotion of epic proportions was launched by Pepsi and sister company Doritos. Initially fabled to involve magic chemistry causing a spicy heat from the Doritos "Burn" that could only be cooled with the anti-chemical in Pepsi "Cease Fire," I was sufficiently intrigued to give it a try. Finding the products involved a search of no less than 4 drug stores, 2 grocery stores, and several retail outlets. Having finally secured the 2nd degree chips (1st and 3rd were nowhere to be found) and a 2 liter of the Pepsi, I was disappointed to discover while the "burn" was intense, the "cease fire" only cooled it for a few seconds before it returned full strength. There is no magical chemical interaction, just your standard marketing gimmick. Disappointed and ashamed, I finished the bag of chips to let the pain keep me from crying.

A sunny 55.9° day is all it takes for me to risk angering the Michigan weather gods and declare spring officially here. My 11 year old
"summer" car, which most would now consider their clunker, is free of the barn and gathering the remaining salt dust from the roads to accelerate the rusting process. I credit the 4th straight day of sun for my bold defiance of this forsaken land, which will undoubtedly summon a freak snowstorm to trap my symbol of summer and crush my spirit in revenge. Until then I'm free, proud, and on my way to Sonic!

After seeing all the
videos of Battlefield: Bad Company 2, I was in the excitement level that usually comes back to bite me when the game doesn't live up to my dreams. Fortunately, this was not so for BF:BC2 as both the campaign and multiplayer exceeded my lofty expectations. Unlike Modern Warfare 2, BF:BC2 actually rewards you to play as a team with squad bonuses. The different classes are complementary and having one of each in a squad almost guarantees you'll do well. This is especially true if
Myrn,
Tiger or
TomTom are online and I can make overt homosexual references to help motivate everyone. You'll notice I left out
Stavos who thinks IRL moving is more important.

After almost a month of no updates, I decided to break the silence with the news that Lisa is now handy with a crochet needle. Having mastered the pot holder, she's moved on to hats which are proving more complicated than she anticipated. I'm giving her a few more days to get it right before I clamp down and set production goals. While the hats have higher profit margin, the pot holders are faster to make, so the quantity may make up for it. Moving her to a windowless room will also make it easier to get 16 hour workdays out of her as the passage of time will become indistinguishable.

At the bequest of
Senator Kelley and
Excelcier, another Jan LAN was proposed. Expecting only 4 people for a modest Starcraft match, it turned into a 12 person event with 10 concurrent players. My lack of planning left us with only FarCry, FarCry 2 and UT2K3 as game options, but it still managed to entertain. Both the
Morlocks woman and Lisas mom got to experience a LAN party for the first time, scarring them permanently. The
timelapse from the
Gnome Cam and
event photos are posted.

Today at lunch I received a text message from Lisa indicating I had just become 20 Gamerscore richer while I was stuffing my face. I immediately showed everyone at the table for +5 jealousy that my wife was farming achievement points while I was at work.

A
$10 rebate brought the price of some
new hardware down to
just under $100 during my Microcenter trip with the Senator. Originally purchased for upgrading my dads computer, the jerk son that I am decided to take the new hardware for myself and give him my
old server hardware. While I've gone from two cores to one, the 300Mhz speed increase seems to more than compensate when it comes to the only processor intensive task on the server;
thumbnail generation. And yes, it's embarassing to run a server on a Sempron, but until the AM2
Opterons drop to under $20 on eBay I'm willing to swallow my pride.
