IPv6 IPv6 was created to save us from the Chinese and give us a much cooler address schema. Unfortunately, hardly anyone can access the two IPv6 websites available thanks to un-american ISPs, so it looks like IPv4 will be around for some time still. This makes today an excellent opportunity to buy up the expired/unused IPv4 addresses and hold them for ransom in the coming address war. The WhatIsMyV6 website is a great way to determine if you'll survive the Chinese attack or not. I'm currently headed for prisoner of war, but I'm curious if ANYONE reading this has IPv6 connectivity at all. If you can click this link and NOT get a "Server not Found" please post below excitedly and include your address so I know where to draw my emergency bunker directions to.

I can see it! w00t it somewhat resembles a 3D zombo.com. Who knew Zombocom was the future!

Being owner of several class-C v4 blocks (400+ unique addresses), I can easily explain the "whys" of this. 1) The U.S. owns and uses a majority of the v4 addresses allocated. Switching here is exponentially more difficult than somewhere like Japan. 2) IPv4-IPv6 NAT gateways have made an immediate change unnecessary for interoperation. 3) There's simply no need. NAT, PAT, and the other address translations have mitigated the immediate threat of running out of addresses. ARIN has clamped down on delegating blocks, but it's still trivial to get them. Will it happen? Sure, eventually, but like the venerable SMTP it would probably have to happen in the US relatively quickly and at the same time. Look how well that's worked for SMTP, which DOES have an immediate need (Spam).

I just wish unused parked domain names would expire at a certain time. No website? Sorry going back for sale. /rant
