Today Senator Kelley purchased an Epson 8350 projector. After helping with the setup I realized I was bested on multiple levels. The 8350 is 250 model points better than my 8100, throws a screen 5" larger than mine, has 14,000 more contrast and 200 more lumens. He even has screengoo paint to make a better wall. My brief years of superiorty have been crushed, which can only mean I must now buy the 3D projector everyone at his work is ranting about. Only then can the universe be in order once again.

If you get another projector the only logical thing to do is cross the light beams! IT WOULD BE BAD! BTW I can't watch movies on your small 118" screen anymore. Where's the screen stats btw? Senator Kelley |
The Projector wars have begun... Senator Kelley |
I believe your reign ended in October, sir. http://www.hometheater.com/content/sony-bravia-vpl-vw90es-sxrd-3d-projector Duane |
But what size is your fancy 3d projector, projecting at? That's all that matters! Senator Kelley |
120" Next, we compare dicks. I win again. Duane |
My screen is 123" and my shlong coincidentally is also 3" longer. How was the 2 days of fame? Senator Kelley |
Obligatory quality of the experience comment. (2.35:1 CIH anamorphic screen, next size up won't fit in our little theater) Duane |
BEGIN_TROLL Eesh... I just did the math. With a 120" 2.35:1 screen, my screen is 112" wide with no black bars above or below. At 123", you're looking at 107" wide and letterboxed bars above and below the screen. END_TROLL Duane |
TROLL_RETORT: With 123" I don't care about the black bars! My projector will be used for Xbox, TV, Movies, Computer.
(BTW i'm measuring from top angle to bottom angle not the width)
Clearly the Duane troll isn't really Duane due to the lack of the Tigerbomb icon. IMPOSTOR!

I'm basing it on diagonal measurement. When you're watching a cenemascope (2.35:1) movie, such as Star Wars, your screen is effectively 116.508" diagonal because of the black bars above and below. That's the main reason we chose a 2.35:1 screen vs. a 16.9 give how small our room is. Duane |
Math hurts mah brain!
Yeah I see what you did there. If you did hook up your xbox to play games in the theater the top and bottom would spill out of your screen. Senator Kelley |
1 of 2 things would happen: either it would scale to have black bars on either side (as I have today) or I could scale to the vertical resolution and stretch using a constant image height (2.35:1) lens. I don't own such a lens (~$6000) yet as I now have to save up to repair my house following the flood in my kitchen. Duane |
