Windows Home Server 2011 released yesterday to MSDN and as expected I upgraded that night. By upgrade I mean a fresh install and copy of the entire 3TB worth of data on my old server (which took all night). Now that I've achieved the latest and greatest, my post-upgrade excitement crash is greater than usual. I quickly discovered my Windows Server 2003 machine is no longer supported for backup, and not one of the machines I added was able to perform a successful backup. Plus the removal of drive extender means I have to fit all my videos on a single drive, which just barely fit on my new 2TB. Not even a full day after my upgrade, I'm back to the original Home Server which works just fine. I declare WHS 2011 a downgrade, as it removes functionality and from what I could tell added nothing spectacular in return.

Much like how MS removed remote desktop hosting options from Windows7 Home Premium. It use to have it until the last service pack. MS must be hurting. Stavos |
