I got this jewel passed to me from an associate of Brian and felt it must be shared with the world, or at least the billionth of a percent that see this blog. With lyrics like "I put my glow plug in your socket" I'm betting it was a hit when it came out in 1982, which translates to closer to 1992 for Russia. I listened to this the entire day at work and was significantly more productive as a result.

Windows Vista Yesterday MSDN finally put the 64-bit Vista ISO back up for download, so like any good nerd I installed it tonight on my NEUTRON machine. Unlike Keith's experience, mine went off without a hitch, and I setup a Windows XP dual boot to boot. My last adventure in a 64-bit OS didn't yield spectacular results, particularly in the area of drivers, but to my surprise Vista automatically downloaded the few drivers it didn't have out of the box. Even my RAID was recognized without the need for a lame floppy disk. I'm keeping my XP partition in case I run into compatibility problems, but when I rebooted back into XP to make sure it worked, I felt a little sadness creep over me. Yes, they really made Vista that much more fun. On to the nerd stats: my system info window confirms I am indeed a 64-bit ub3r h@x0r. My experience index indicates that I am exactly .7 better than Keith. The experience index is a calculation of your total worth as a person, and your ranked place in society, 5.9 being the highest possible score. Want further details? You got it. Of course no install documentation is complete without a full frontal. I do like the Aero interface, it brings the clown from XP to a whole new level. How did I get Vista so soon when it doesn't officially release until January? Take a look at my experience score again and you'll know why.

Yes but does BF2142 run on your new OS?

What's up with the links of images. You're making we work harder instead of embedding them into your posts. Kill the links! Blog Law: Never link to an image unless it is a photo album.
Elder
The images are embedded for people with a 4.9 score or better. Those with a 4.8 or less have to click the links. BF2142 *worked* but the graphics were so shaky I had to give up and go back to XP.
AtomicInternet
Links work well for this format, instead of having tons of images. It depends on the layout of the site. In this case This site works great with links to images. Keeps it clean

You clownz are just lucky I don't install vista and embarress you both.

MS flight sim X is vista ready. Bummer I dont ahve vista to see how it works.
R1OT
You wont notice a difference with MS Flight sim X in vista unless you have a direct X 10 video card. R10T you have MSFSX? i'm getting it for xmas we must fly together with Tim!
Stavos
Funny because true DX10 cards don't exist on the market yet. I have two reference cards on their way from Nvidia and ATI for testing, but even they are both only premilinary DX10 cards and do not fully support the new subset.
E1
yeah what he said...
R1OT
If a video card wasnt dx10 compliant, then I dont see how they can use the dx10 compatible logo. Im more likely to go with the manufacturers on this.
Stavos
I can display the DX10 logo myself, its all about being part of the program. The technology that DX10 cards require does not even exist yet, the specs were written on future growth. DX10 has stub functions for these very hardware register calls right now. (Remember, I do 3D programming and I'm "in" with MS/ATI/Nvidia -- I've been on the DX10 card waiting list for over a year now, because we require them before we can start our XNA port -- but they simply do not exist.)
E1
well i can piss farther then both of you...jk
R1OT
So would you recommend that I hold of on getting the Geforce 8800 and wait for a true DX10 card? or will directX software solve this problem?

My addiction to Battlefield 2142 has slowly been growing in strength, but now that my user profile is viewable online it has increased exponentially. The best motivating factor to play a game online is for bragging rights, which translates directly into how hardcore a person you are in real life (don't ask me to explain all the hardcore 12 year olds). Needless to say I'm currently on the bottom of the bragging rights totem pole so my need to play has never been greater. Lisa has also indicated her preference for the higher ranking players and informed me I have only few weeks before she starts interviewing them for possible fiance upgrades.
User Comments for 11-25-2006:
Yes this game is highly addictive. I only play for the sol purpose to be Brad in points. Currently I'm ahead of Brad in Career Points 2008/1905 however he's owning me in Global Score points 1382/1233. All I do is think about BF2142, Dream about BF2142, and play BF2142.

My last project before moving to Fathead was a team commercial. Since I knew I was leaving soon I had no problem spending the time to write the script and assemble the building boxes (with some Canadian help). Mix in some ad-lib and the results are perfect. I'm sure nobody will get it, but it was alot of fun. Unfortunately our commercial came in second place but after watching the first place commercial I had to concede it was a better production.

Having been kidnapped by the flatlanders more than a month ago, Butt the Gnome was finally returned to his rightful porch today. A visit to Ohio for Jaird's birthday party gave Lisa and I the opportunity we needed to infiltrate the flatlander enclave and retrieve the gnome. We escaped without any major injuries but my RC Car sustained significant frontal damage and Lisa was hit with a temporary neural disabling device. Happy to be free again, Butt is content to sit on my freezing porch once more.

Just as the secret service went from count fit fraud to protecting the President, it is now my responsibility to protect all Gnomes from being kidnapped as well as protecting Lisa and brad from their family members.

Today was my last day at Quicken and Jennifer organized a goodbye lunch for me. My new job at Fathead is in the same building, in fact it's owned by the same parent company, but what better excuse to have a group lunch.

Congrats man! But now you've gotta bitch em out for me. Ask them how in the hell they can make Kyle Petty a Fathead and NOT have Dale Earnhart Jr OR Sr? I mean com'on, Kyle can't make it thru a race without hitting the wall and he gets one vs Sr who was a legend!!! :P

The company is run by a bunch of fat heads. They're selling a Ben Wallace item under the piston category. He plays for the bulls now! I think they need you to whip them in shape.

An upgrade to the Asus A8N-SLI Premium and BFG 7600 GT OC finally brought me out of the AGP dark ages. The ability to play a game at high resolution without having my machine lockup or reboot was a refreshing change. The main reason I bought this motherboard was for the RAID 5 support, but I soon discovered the parity striping makes the disk access dog slow. I then reloaded using the same SIL 3114 controller in RAID 0 before settling on the nVidia Controller in RAID 0 which blew away the SIL 3114 in the burst category. For anyone else who buys this board the RAID 5 option makes you feel nice and secure about your hard drives, but if you're impatient like me skip it and go directly to nVidia RAID 0. I also added another drive so now it's 3 time more likely my entire array will fail compared to a single drive. Surprisingly my old motherboard RAID beat my new one in average and random access.

It's true, the need for me has declined dramatically this year. The server statistics show a definite trend of less desire to click on me. Why have I become less clickable? The blame lies squarely with Myrone, who has been gone for over three years. Without his tomfoolery and shenanigans I'm just not as interesting as I once was.

MorlockPrime decided to rearrange my basement furniture, resulting in a new configuration for the LAN party. Apparently he knew it would suck so he decided to stay in Illinois during this event. We returned the favor by shoving unnecessary furniture into his room. Original Morlock stopped by to say he was too scared and had to hide in Jackson. FEAR Combat was first to be played until everyone had it up and running, at which point we switched to FarCry. A few heated rounds of FarCry was the highlight of the whole event, after which handsome Dan decided to leave, prompting a major exodus of handsome Dan followers. Fortunately the die hard remained for some Battlefield 2142, by far the most involved game of the whole event. If you don't have a copy, get one. The Jeffords found a way to play it on his Mac it's so good (If you play online, post your screen name). Finally, here's the event timelapse.

The safety rail at the bottom of my shower door has been off for awhile after coming loose and falling into the tub. My procrastination on replacing it finally caught up with me this morning when I bumped the door off it's track and showered myself with shattered safety glass (instead of water). Refreshed, and bleeding from several minor scratches, I tiptoed through the glass to stop the bodily hemorrhaging. Deciding not to risk a trip to the morlock cave for my other shower, I have an enjoyable aroma to share with my coworkers. I also discovered a glass shower door costs $100 and 7 days to replace.
