BlogToday,
Joseph and Lavonne came to visit their
disturbing gnome and
see my rack.
Stavos planned a Lord of the Rings viewing that we wound up leaving too late for and had to fight for seats. Nobody seemed to care about the two from Florida who had made the long journey to Michigan, at least not enough to give up any seats, so we sat in the fifth row from the screen. A good movie was had by all. After the movie was a stop at Redford Inn (Grille) and a good time was had by all. Finally we stopped at
this place and said hello to the nice swiss couple and their gnomes.
Now that
Enorym has been gone for
over four months,
Stavos has decided it's high time we recruit a replacement. I'm forced to agree, and if you're interested in the job, the
questionairre is pretty straightforward. Just fill it out along with how to contact you and we'll review it. If you meet the requirements, work would begin immediately. Job duties consists of showing up on the front porch of various redford residents at random times, going to resturants with groups of people and refusing to eat anything, and last but not least, assisting with major mechanical projects that otherwise would not be attempted.
Joseph and Lavonne are back in town visiting family this week. After hearing about the recent
gnome napping that took place on my porch, they bought me another one to help ease the pain. But it wasn't just a regular garden gnome, it was in fact, the most disturbing gnome on the planet!
Thanks Lavonne and Joseph!
I got sick of
nGallery since I couldn't easily figure out how to control the thumbnail creation quality. It was killing bandwidth and processor time on the server, not to mention annoying everyone who used it. My old album engine I wrote works great, but doesn't look as professional. I decided to
freshen it up a bit and add a few features such as dates, file sizes, and web/email links on each photo. I hope to have a comment feature available soon.
Every year my work has a
holiday party with free food and drinks. Consequently, I've chosen this party as my
annual excuse to drink close to the point of passing out. This year was no exception. The party had a jungle theme, so there were people dressed up as monkeys climbing around on scaffolding. After a few drinks it was fun to pull their tail and act like an idiot with them. They also had
snakes,
turtles, and a
tiger. It was a great party. We stayed the night at the hotel, and as is the obligation of all Redford residents, stole all the complimentary toiletries.
For those of you wishing to nail me,
this is the tool you need.
Melissa and I went to the
Wayne County Lightfest tonight. The line wound around Hines drive for a total of a half-hour wait to get to
the beginning. While we were waiting in line, we estimated 4 cars a minute were going through @ $5/car, so $1200/hour for 5 hours = $6,000 a night. We considered robbing the ticket booth, but decided to just pay up instead. We were greeted by
two soldiers guarding an archway of light that looked better than the photo. Next was a
jewish holiday scene,
crazy hockey skier things and
some kind of barn. There were alot more, but those are the only photos that showed up well. We got a lot of video as well, such as:
lake monster,
golfer,
frog jump,
elf,
train,
santa and reindeer,
jumping reindeer and
happy holidays. Alas, it was time to say
goodbye to the lightfest. We both left feeling changed, and wishing for $6,000.
Lastnight I arrived at my associate
Steve's new house and began
lighting candles. I'm sure the neighbors (and their dog) were convinced I was trying to burn the place down, but in reality I was setting a scene. I quickly iced some champagne and left the house at 7:27:04 pm Redford Standard Time. For the next half hour I sat parked in the YWCA parking lot across the street from his house playing "Bejewled" in my truck. I glanced occasionally to see if his house was on fire, which I'm sure prompted many discussions within the YWCA involving calls to the police. Fortunately I was either agreed to be harmless or the Redford Police were busy elsewhere. Finally, at exactly 8:04:05 pm RST I saw Steve's Taurus pull into his driveway. I eventually convinced myself there was no fire and left them to do
whatever newly engaged people do. Congratulations Steve and Candy: You can read all about it at

My friend
Joseph recently took part in an
undercover experiment. His results were educational, so I thought I would share them.
Apparently the entire Road Runner network was down for about an hour from 2:30 - 3:30pm.
Webcam and
blacknova were unaffected aside from the unavailability.
