Hello, I´m new to this forum and also number 3 (but probably only because the forum seems to be reconstructed, find it by redirectning from a link on Willie´s Snappy Pages that I´ve seen for a long time).
Well, my first subject are: Now running Snappy 4 on a PC (with Athlon processor 1,6 GHz and 256 MB RAM) in Windows XP. The fastest speed for me is 5 seconds per picture by the automatic program Snap Recorder. However, I wanna to get up the speed and wonder if somebody knowing another faster automatic program, or if there is some possibilities to trim the hardware or something to get faster snaps? The ideal would be 25 pictures at second, but anything faster than now is of interest. Thanks.
Edit: My Snappy are for the PAL-system, not the NTSC.

I think your parallell port is your limiting factor. Make sure you have ECP (Enhanced Communication Port) selected in your BIOS. Even with that setting you have limited bandwidth. Considering the Snappy was designed during the Pentium 133 era I think your hardware is more than enough for Snappy, it just can't snap faster.

Just curious, whats the link to Willie´s Snappy Pages? I was wondering why this forum always had a steady user base for Snappy.
Keep in mine there is streaming hardware and software out there, Snappy is really old and was never intended to be used for real time Cams. I have mine set to 1 min snaps, and Mr. Atomic here has his set to 5 mins.
NARC Cam
Gnome Cam
Each one of our cams has a unique proptery.
Mine archives every min so I will have each min of a whole year archived on my box. and Atomic has Gnomes.

Yeah, there is, but it costs to buy and I just wanna to make the best
out of my Snappy as an good old composite video capturer (btw, I also have a Sony D8 that make realtime movies with firewire, but don´t coposite AV, just digital).
