 November LAN Discussion
Start it up, Jeffords wants time scheduled gaming. List the games and times, then fight.

I say try it if you like. However i'm sure it will collapse after 3 or 4 beers.
What usually happens is we start with with Farcry play for 2 hours. Play 1 hours of Quake III, then the rest of the night is Unreal 2k4.
It's hard to schedule because it souly depends on the mood of the group and how a game is going.
....and it's a party
(NOTE: first timers here no need to register in this section so go nuts)
However you have to register to vote!

How about a list of games first. I can see the time slot working if we start off with maybe Doom III/Quake III while people start showing up, then graduate to Farcry followed up by some Unreal Tournament 2004, wrapped up with Quake IV (if it works).
I know I'm missing call of duty and a few other games. I really don't care what game it is as long as I get to shoot or build.
No more than 2 hrs per game, and maybe just for 3 slots then it' open gaming again.

Well I for one would prefer to play a longer session of Frycry if the rest of the room was into it.
Also, is there any interest in Star Craft?

My only suggestion ( after a few gaming sessions now with the same awesome croud of folks ) is that we always do pretty much nothing but 1st person shooters. I'd love to see a RTS thrown into the mix like a game like Warcraft III or something for some variety.

Though I wont be at this LAN, I am planning on making at least one this winter! :)
I have been to many a lan here in ottawa, and I can tell ya - Doom 3 multiplayer sucks... the game is cool, but its definitely way too slow.
Quake 3 - always a classic - capture the flag mode = even better ;) - when is Quake 4 coming out?
Starcraft is hard to play if you are used to warcraft3's graphics.
Battlefield 1942 is great if you can all get on the internet / into the same server.
Theres also nothing like good ol' Grand Theft Auto 2 deathmatching. :)
I would imagine that if you got a good racing game... or sports game going on, that would be great too multiplayer.
either way, I just can't wait till I can get down there!
oh - and scheduling never works... if you all REALLY get into a good game of "_______" sometimes you wont want to quit after 2 hours ;)

I think we'll be trying Quake 4 plus the usuals.. Farcry, UT2k4, Quake 3, etc. I'd love to get a game of Warcraft 3 going.

Ron, don't forget that Marcus and I are staying in Brad's basement now. ;) So we'll be there... Of course, Marcus is working some funky hours, so he might not be there during gametime.
I have just about every game out, so if you have a request for an FPS or RTS, please let me know now so that Brad or I can get the files setup before the party.
I really don't care what we play, I love em all. ;)

I just would like to see some RTS for a change instead of 100% FPS games all day.

What about Age of Empires 3? I am snagging that right now at the house.
Hm, I also have Stronghold 2 -- which is GREAT for big multiplayer battles.

My turn to host a Lan Party.....
OK, date is not yet finalized, but it'll be a weekend day in January.
I'll follow up shortly with a date and a webpage with hosting info. I will try to make this more regular as well.
This is how we make international relations work.. this one will be hosted at my house in Canada.
http://excelcier.com/directions
Similar to Brad's, I'll have a PC server setup with game downloads, etc.. ( I'll need to steal Brad's installs to put on my server ! )
Hope to see a few yankies be able to make it!
