you guys need to really RELAX....that template has been on newcougar.org for allmost a week. Yet no-one looked. A week ago there were posts and one topic just to make sure it was all working.

Out of curiousity.....between all of your bitching and complaining, did a majority of you even look at the main thread TREVOR posted, stating what the new forum will be, what payment will be for, where funds will be distributed, him stating how much money he had recieved for banner ads....EVERYTHING. It also included ZERO PAYMENTS FROM MEMBERS WILL NOT MEAN ANYTHING DIFFERENT, YOU CAN STILL POST, VIEW, PM, AND UPLOAD. There will just be more space allotted for those who pay, and at $1 a month.....WOOO FUCKIN HOO! I can tell you right now, had it not been for those forums, Hamillfest, Cougar Extravaganza, and MANY of these "meets" we have, the friends we've become, and hell, half the parts I've sold to many of our own members would NEVER HAVE HAPPENED! It's comedic how people donated a total of $98.35 to Hamillfest (which I'm greatful for) but would have issues spending $12 a year to get other similar events going.

Sorry if I sound bitchy, but when you think about it......would many of us EVER have met if it wasn't for those boards? I know I for one found NECO before I found any of the sublets of it (teamneco, cougardb, cougarimage, Brads forums) ETC!

I totally agree Dan, But finding out that Trevor was getting free car parts for banner ads instead of paying for hosting left a bad taste in peoples mouths. $1 a month is nothing, it's more the principal of the whole thing. Why the hell should everyone pay to mod Trevors car!

Mav, do you realize what it takes to run a forum the size of FC? Sure, he should have moved the site to a hosting provider a long time ago, but to bitch because he was making a little cash on the side? Com'on man, the time and effort he's put into keeping that sucker running is nowhere close to the minute amount of money he received in advertising.

So those that think Trevor shouldn't get any money from this . Do you think that if i showed peopel on here houses (real estate agent) i shouldnt' collect a commission from it if they buy it? It is the same thing that is his business and he does put a fair amount of work into it to make the little that is made off of those banners.

I have no problem with anyone on here, we're all grown ups! We are just discussing the situation. Trevor can make his money what ever way he wants. But no other car forum administrator does it off the backs of it members. Without members you don't have a forum. I know that now he is saying he won't charge you anything unless you want the extra perks. Fine, But thats after a load of people started bitching about it. If nobody bitched we all would be paying $40 a month. Just like in politics, if nobody said anything we would be giving all our money to the govenment.

I can disagree here, with facts to back it up. ;)

I currently visit over 20 car forums, mainly because our shop is involved in more than just the Cougar market. Of these forums, every single one of them has advertisements on the site, most of which cost $50-$100 per month to run the ads, and that's not sitewide ads, and are placed into rotation with other ads (I've checked, because I've advertised on many sites). The hosting for these sites costs no more than $100 per month, yet some of these sites bring in upwards of $1000 per month in advertising costs. They use that money as a business, to purchase parts for "Sponsored Vehicles" of the site, which most of the time is the person running that sites car(s).

That's just normal practice, if there were no perks to running a website, most people wouldn't do it.

And, in case you forgot, when Trevor first posted the announcement, he stated the costs were not set in stone, and he was just guessing. On top of that, I don't remember him saying it was going to be $40 a month...

Thats what I'm talking about! If he can make money from the site and buy his parts from that, Fine, thats great for him. But don't make money off the site and charge its members, thats like a snake eating its own tail! I know the $40 for A "premium" membership was never set in stone, but if everyone agreed with it at the begining, and started sending him money he wouldn't of said "wait a minuite, thats too much guys". He would of kept it. So by voicing our opinion it brought him back down to earth on his pricing. Thats it, Simple as that. I have no problem with trevor making money or getting free parts for his work running the site. Just don't bite the had that feeds you!

Great now this place is turning into FastCougar!

Here is my take....take it as you will....

1) Trevor was getting free hosting from his old boss, he did collect on banner ads, but whoop dee do, considering all the crap those guys put up with in the back end (consider legal issues, looking into issues of members being ripped off etc and resolving other peoples crap) WHO CARES.

2) I find it interesting how people are bitching and moaning about getting a heads up that something MIGHT happen, or WAS GOING TO HAPPEN, or WAS PLANNED. And you haven't been asked to pay yet, and you have no clue what's going on yet. Until someone TELLS me to pay, I don't have to...and that is that.

3) There are alot of people making a huge deal about this that haven't been on the forums that long to begin with. Those who have been on NECO for 3+ years know what it has turned into from "back in the day". What I find funny, is how the momentum has changed, I can remember no longer than 2 years ago where Merc burned alot of people for mioney at cougarfest. Guess what, Trevor stepped up, Brad stepped up, and so did some other people, and if memory serves me right, the bitching and complaining was more civil then that we are being now.

4) Zac, I don't know what has dug itself so far up your ass about this, but it seems like every god damn post in here has something to do with how upset you are about FC. I have no problems with you as a person, but for the love of god, if you are going to complain, know what you are talking about. It's like in your other post, you complain about never being told about the pm delete schedule, it was posted for 3 weeks prior to the delete. Just because you didn't read it, doesn't mean it's a conspiracy against you.

In summary, it's fine for some to be discouraged, but fact over fiction, you all trusted sending money to Trevor for Cougarfest and buying raffle tickets. In total, that's alot of $$, yet no-one questioned it, and we've had amazing Cougarfests as a result. So to say "he's in it for extra money" just doesn't cut it with me. Until he does you wrong, give it up.

ah yes! I have been here and there. :) Photoshop stuff has been keeping me busy actually! - After the logo I did for John, he nicely recommended me to a few people and I've been designing shirts for Midwest NECO, for Coogah (Sami) and a few other odds and sods stuff ever since!
Even been making some money at it too! :) - i posted a few things in the photoshop section incase anyone is bored.

OH! and theres a possibility of a ND4SPD neco tour... heh, in March maybe, I'm thinking if its alright with everyone - Have a winter meet sometime, and I'll fly down for a week or two ;) Ron and Jen have given me an open invitation for a visit, and so has E1, so maybe we can all coordinate a meet up in London or down in Windsor or something... then you all can pass me around, and fight over who takes me home. lol. - so long as I eventually get back to the airport sometime.. heh!
