 Re: Sonic Grand Opening.
So I went to Sonic today for the first time since it opened. The wait in the car was now 25 minutes. I decided to order my food at an intercom, and it only took a few minutes. I had a Sonic Burger with tator tots, and they were delicous! I will come back and try the root beer float.

 Re: Sonic Grand Opening.
My dad lives in Southgate, and he told me the wait has been 2 hours every day since opening! I live in Baton Rouge, LA, and grew up on Sonic! It's hard to imagine it being such a big deal! Then again, I was thrilled when Arby's opened around here...

Just came from the Pontiac trail, M-5 and Haggerty Rd. area. I saw some earth moving eqipment, but not any building construction or Sonic signs.

 Re: Sonic Grand Opening.
So now the far east side also has one (Groesbeck), as does Flint. Two are now also open in the Toledo vicinity, and the one in Birch Run is supposed to open any day now. At least two are open on the west side of the state.
I don't know what happened to the M5/Haggerty one (I think that's Commerce Township). I never get up there anyway.
The project in Canton (Meijer's outlot at Ford and Canton Center) went to Planning Commission staff for review on January 12 and has yet to return to the Commission at large. As of May, this was still listed on the City of Canton website as a "Commercial Project Under Review". Dammit, hurry up. I'm sick of driving to Southgate from Ann Arbor when I want a Sonic fix!

 Re: Sonic Grand Opening.
The Commerce Township location is now open.
Local forums and another source have indicated a Sonic is being built in Westland on the site of an old Denny's near Westland Mall. No idea how far along construction is, or when it will open.
With no further word on Canton Center and Ford Rd., I wonder if the Westland location is replacing the Canton one. They're not really that close, but then again, Sonic is just starting to develop its market presence here and nothing will kill off an entire string of restaurants owned by a single franchiser than rapid over-expansion.
