I have a strange question for ya'll...

This week my inbox has been bombed with a few ppl sending me PM's about scrupul0us' signature. He was complaining about James and CreativeCompacts.com and calling for a boycott. Why? He called them thieves and said a 30% markup is unheard of.

Now, everyone knows how I feel about James. I think he's an idiot, personally. BUT! I am also a businessman, and 30% markup is NOTHING in the aftermarket industry. (Try closer to 65-70% markup, which is why I can give ya'll such killer deals on wheels...) This is STANDARD across the automotive aftermarket. I sent him a message saying I had a problem with the wording of his signature, because effectively he was calling ME a thief, as well, tho indirectly.

He replied, and stated something that simply blew my mind. He has NEVER bought a product from James, nor does he have a problem with him at all. (boggle) His ONLY issue is that he can find the parts CHEAPER elsewhere. SOOOOOO... Why not just buy from the other guys, and not attempt to drive a persons business (ie, their livelihood) into the ground?

I dunno, just seems silly to me... What do ya'll think of this?

You handled it well.... It's his business let him do with it what he wants.If he wants to call it PinkPokadotKittyMods.com then let him. Just go shop elsewhere. Now if he asks for customer feedback then you can tell him how you feel personally. No need to start a war because the silence of no one buying from him will hurt more then words.

Him and I came to an understanding in PM's... He removed it from his signature, since it had been there awhile, but also by talking to him I understood his motivations a bit better. He actually had no clue about the problems that have been caused in the past with people complaining like that, as well as the number of flame wars that have started from that very topic... In the end, I think both of us are better off by having handled this in PM's, and talking instead of bitching... :D

Seriously though, it's funny considering my circuits. I'm new to this whole thing and all the people that said they were dying to get my flasher circuits suddenly won't open their wallet so easily because it cost more than they planned and they don't realize it costs alot to make a decent quality product. I'm making spit on them, I'm just doing it for the pride with very little markup.

Yeah if you can find a better deal somewhere else, buy it. no point in raising a stink. I've bought stuff from James an wasn't impressed with his service. I just won't buy from him again, thats all!

I've also bought stuff from him in the early days till he started making a business deal with me to build him angel eyes and then at the last minute pulled out and a week later started selling them from somewhere else for like twice the price and never spoke to me again.
