Post CougarFest Newbie Thread Ideas
I posted this at new cougar also

If we are gonna have Brad type up this Guide to CougarFest, then lets all throw in our 2 cents so we can cover everything.

These are my ideas

Be sure to bring a 2-way Walkie talkie for cruises
It dont matter what your car looks like, this is about meeting other cougar inthusists
You will not be respected if you pull into cougarfest blaring music and peeling out, as a matter of fact you will prolly be flamed if u break traction at all in the parking lot. so dont think you are cool cause u can spin your tires
No1 to travel with? WHO CARES i came down not knowing anyone last year, and left with so many new friends. So it dont matter if uve never met anyone on the boards before. we are all nice and greet you with respect
If you have anything cougar related to sell, bring it. There are always sales going on in the parking lots
Bring about 200-500 dollars for food, gas, ect.
If you need anything minor installed, bring it, ppl love doing installs at fest
    Bring a camera
The Hotel has Internet capabilities so bringing a laptop is a good idea, because ppl post what is going on at fest.
If you dont know anyone, its ok just go join in a conversation, be nice and introduce yourself. and just like that you are respected and welcomed
Bring somthing to sit on in the parking lots, ex. lawn chair or folding chair
    SUNSCREEN
Be prepared to be spontainious, there are always tons of things going on, some will probably be new, so just try new things and have a good time
Dont drink too much red death...

those are all my ideas. So everyone throw in yours, so brad can type this up.

Brad- if you dont want to do it. i would like to...

Those sound like all good points! Might want to add something about car cleaning stuff, although, it might be common sense. Advil/Tylenol/Excedrin, bathing suit (good call on the sunscreen) BUG SPRAY, long pants for anybody who wants to drag, but hasn't done it before, they might not know. Avoid the whitecastle! unless your system is already used to it ;)

oh, and fer sure, watch the red death intake

This is a great thread, since I am going to be one of the newbies. It is always great to hear that groups like these are open to outsiders and new members, especially those who were not brought it or refered by someone already in the group. I have been following Cougarfest since 2002, but it was not until late 2004 that I finally bought my car. So with any luck, I will be at this years event, and threads like this will help me prepare for what I will encounter at the fest.

Since Brad isnt really responding to me, i went ahead and made a first draft. Please add any input you may have. Once i have it where it sounds perfect. i will make the post at New Cougar.. and have them make it an announment and lock it so it is always there and not whored up with usless posts.

Cougar Fest for Newbies

If you are thinking about going to CougarFest for the first time, then be sure you read this thread thoroughly and understand all of it before you do.
CougarFest is defiantly the most waited for event of the year for all cougar owners; it is a time to meet new people, and show off your cougar. Whether it is completely stock or heavily modified, that is irrelevant. CougarFest is a one of a kind weekend, it’s the only car meet you will ever be at where it isn’t about having the nicest ride in the lot, its about peers and having a good time. If you do not know anyone there, don’t be shy to introduce yourself and strike up a conversation with somebody. The only way to meet people is to speak up. And lastly, the only way you will gain disrespect is if you are disrespectful to the hotel or other cougar owners. Rolling into the lot blaring music or burning out will not get you well liked. We all know the cougar can break traction, so there is no reason to be spinning tires in the parking lot.

Q&A

Q: But what if I don’t know anybody there?
A: It doesn’t matter at all. My first CougarFest, I went not knowing a soul, and left with tons of new friends and faces to all the screen names on the cougar forums.

Q: Can I follow anyone to CougarFest?
A: Absolutely, check your local cougar chapter; there are all kinds of caravans going to fest. And none of them will turn down another cougar to the line.

Q: Where can I find information on CougarFest?
A: www.CougarFest.com

Q: How much money do I need?
A: Id be safe to bring anywhere from 200-500 dollars. I don’t know too many people that spend more then 500 dollars at CougarFest.

Q: What is there to do?
A: There is always something going on at CougarFest, between track day, show day, and dinners you will have no problem keeping busy.

Things you should bring

*A 2-Way Walkie Talkie (used for communication during Cruises and Caravans)
*Camera
*Money
*Lawn Chair or Folding Chair
*Sunscreen
*Tylenol, Advil, ect.
*Swimsuit
*Car Cleaning Stuff
*Bug Spray
*If you plan on Drag Racing, Tracks require pants, so be sure you have at least one pair of jeans.
*Anything cougar related that you have to sell; there is lots of sales going on in the parking lots.
*Anything you need installed on your cougar, anyone would be happy to help you install it
*If the Hotel has internet capabilities then bringing a laptop is a good idea, to check the forums for events going on at CougarFest.

If there is anything that wasn’t covered in this post, a simple PM to a CougarFest Veteran will solve your problems.

See you at CougarFest!

13.1 1/4 mile without headers installed, havent taken it to the strip yet with the headers, computer programmed, new tires, and subframe connectors. People with simular mods to me run around high 12s.

Stock it runs 13.4 in the 1/4
Here's my very first run "stock" with a 98 cobra

thanks, yeah it's not close to being called the fastest or anything, it's just fun to have a nice base 325hp to work off of.

I don't run at the drag strip anymore because a buddy had a 03 cobra and flipped it 3X and barely escaped alive. He walked out with just scratches but now i'm married and have a family to worry about.

Yeah...crazy things like that happen all the time. A really good friend of my cousin, was racing last summer. My cousin was on his way home from the track, when he got a call that his buddy rolled and was killed during his last run of the weekend. Like they say, it is not if you will get hurt, it is when will you get hurt.

Either way, nice car. I need to make it to the next meet, and check it out.
